I have set up a new server with OMV (ssd boot), plex etc (on media drive). I now have 3x3TB that I have made into a snapriad/unionfs file system for archive backup. I have the disks in OMV set to spin down after X min inactivity. They were spinning down fine when I just had a simple samba share on one drive to test.

Dec 03, 2016 · My experience : I’ve 2 openmediavault servers on raspberry pi 3. running with 2 disques in BTRFS-RAID1. They work fine. I’ve also an OMV serveur virtualized in a proxmox server. This VM shares storage for the other VM’s disks. It works fine but sometime freeze or touch the 100% of hard disk activity.
